How to Build your own website/blog in less than 30 minutes

I’ve built multiple websites and blogs in the past few years and have made thousands of dollars in the process. My personal blog and its content generated more than 1,5mn views across multiple platforms in the past few years.

I’ve written and published blog posts from all over the world. From Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar and many more exotic places. Through my blog and website I’ve had the chance to get in touch with some of the most influential people out there.

I got in touch with the San Francisco Partner from one of the most influential startup accelerators in the world (500 Startups) and had him on my podcast, talked to the first investor in Pinterest any many more incredible people.

And I have to say that having started my own website changed my life forever. It allowed me to start doing the things I wanted to do while still being able to make a decent living and to see the world. From anywhere on this planet.

So what are you waiting for? What’s holding you back from doing the same? You’re less than 30 minutes away from it..

What You Will Learn

# How to create a blog over my shoulder (video at the bottom of this post)

# How to set everything up including your own domain

# How to change your theme and find the best looking themes out there

# How to go live and publish your first blog post

You know, many people ask me how they can build their own websites. Or how much they should pay someone to build their website. Some people even asked me if I’d build their website. For a few thousand dollars!

But the thing is that building your own website the gateway to your own blog, to your own e-commerce store or your own brand is easier than you might think.

As a matter of fact it’ll cost you less than $100 to start your own website. To start being in business. And I’m going to tell you how you can do it, as well. In just a few minutes! Don’t believe me?

I even recorded a video where I launch my own website in just 13 minutes for less than $100. You can watch it here if you want to (and do the exact same thing).

Sure, having your website, blog or e-commerce store doesn’t mean that you’re going to get rich over night. No, that’s not at all what it means. But it’s a first step. A first step towards your goal.

And I think you shouldn’t be wasting hundreds or thousands of dollars on that first step. Instead, you can easily start your own site. And I’m going to tell you how.

If you want a detailed video where I explain every single step to get your own website up and running to the point where you can publish your first piece of content, I recorded a step by step video. You can watch it below. Or follow the written instructions..

Follow this easy 10 step process:

Step 1:

Go to Bluehost and click on “get started now” and then choose the hosting package you want.

Step 2:

Check if your desired domain is available and register it.

Step 3:

Type in your information and choose additional features (none needed, privacy option is nice though)

Step 4:

Once registered successfully, a new window opens with a control panel and lots of different options to choose from. Scroll down to where it says “Install WordPress” (see picture below).

Step 5:

Once installed successfully, click on “View Credentials” or open the email you should have received from Bluehost with your login information.

Step 6:

Click on the Admin URL (or open a new tab), which should look something like this and type in your login information.

Step 7:

Now you’ve successfully logged in and can modify everything about your website. The design, the themes, the plugins and a lot more. The first thing you want to do is to update to the newest version of WordPress. Otherwise some themes or plugins might not work.

Step 8:

Change the theme of your website under “Appearance” and click on “Themes”. There you’ll see available themes. To get you started choose one of the free themes under “ Themes”. You can also upload all sorts of themes you find online. Simply head over to Google and type something like “Best free WordPress themes”. Then download it and upload it by clicking on the “Add New” tab.

Step 9:

Once you’ve found a nice theme (I use this one for this site) you should give your site a name. You can do so by heading over to “Customize” under the “Appearance” tab on your left.

Step 10:

Now you can post your first piece of content. Choose “Posts” or “Pages”, depending on what you want to do and create a new post or a new page. You can add text, videos, images and whatever type of content there is. That’s it. That’s all you need to know to get your website going..

Once you’re done and are comfortable with how your site looks you can launch it. Simply click on the banner you see on top of every page you’re on which says “Your site is currently displaying a Coming Soon page. Once you’re ready to launch your site click here”.

That’s it. Now there’s no way back. Your site is live and everybody can see it.. 🙂
